The Jr. Mechanical Design role is responsible for developing custom designs for machinery and automated equipment from concept to product finish. This position will develop designs within required timelines that accurately meet customer expectations and follow project specifications.

 

Jr. Mechanical Design (New Grads) – Automation & Robotics

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Related Field
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Working Knowledge of SolidWorks & MS Office
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Attention to detail; tight deadlines, ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Adept to constant improvement and change when needed
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to successfully engage and interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop concepts and designs for automation / robotic tooling / fixtures
  • Develop and create economical and easy to assemble mechanical designs using SolidWorks; designs will entail complete machines including pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic components
  • Review internal & external drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, dimensions, etc
  • Present and communicate concepts/designs to internal project management and team members as well as customer reviews
  • Create components and assembly configuration
  • Ensure completion of mechanical design and detailing of fixtures, jigs, and smaller machines
  • Create and maintain a standard work document and library
  • Research customer requirements and communicate with vendors for technical info and specifications
  • Perform engineering calculations as required
  • Create drawings and produce bills of materials; check the accuracy of drawings, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, etc.
  • Assist co-workers, vendors, and builders of equipment to resolve problems to complete the project on time
  • Identify potential improvements and provide solutions; ensure quality control
  • Create and assemble drawings ensuring that tolerance and dimensions are met as per requirements
  • Work alongside Purchasing Team & suppliers to examine component specifications, pricing, and lead times
  • Ensure clients are satisfied with the design from beginning to finish; troubleshoot and resolve any issues promptly
  • Work well with all internal and external parties of the organization
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
